Setup · Diesis

A tuner that already knows your tuning.

Pick your tuning once, play a string and see which way to turn the peg. Six, seven or eight strings, standard or drop, with a reference pitch you can change.

It works right here: no account, nothing to install.

Tap Start tuning, then play a string.

Tuner

What it does

  • Your tuning, not just standard

Standard, drop D, DADGAD, open tunings, baritone, and the low tunings of seven and eight strings. The tuner uses the one you pick.

  • It finds the string for you

Play any string and it picks the closest one of your tuning. Or tap a string to hear it and tune to that one only.

  • A dial you can read at a glance

The needle swings left for flat and right for sharp, the green zone at the top is in tune, and each string you finish gets a tick.

  • Reference pitch

A 440 by default. Change it to 432, 442 or anything between 415 and 466 if you play with others tuned differently.

How to use it

  1. 01

    Pick your tuning

Six, seven or eight strings, then the tuning you play in.

  2. 02

    Tap Start tuning

Your browser asks for the microphone. Allow it, and play a string.

  3. 03

    Turn the peg

Flat, tune up; sharp, tune down. When the needle reaches the green, move on to the next string.

Questions

Is the sound recorded?

No. The microphone is analyzed on your device a moment at a time and thrown away. Nothing is saved or sent, and it only listens while the tuner is on.

Why does it say the wrong string?

It picks the string of your tuning that is closest to what it hears. If you are very far off, tap the string you want: it plays the note and measures against that one.

Does it work for a seven or eight-string guitar?

Yes. Choose the number of strings and the tuning in the tuner. The lowest strings need a clean pluck and a quiet room, since a low string has a slow, soft sound.

Does it work with an acoustic, a bass or a ukulele?

It reads any single note from 30 to 1,000 Hz, so an acoustic works. The tunings it offers are for six, seven and eight-string guitars.
