Practice · Diesis
A metronome that builds your speed.
Set a tempo and it keeps it. Or give it a start, a target and a step, and it climbs a little every few bars while you play.
It works right here: no account, nothing to install.
BPM · Andante
Keys: Space starts and stops, ← → change the tempo (Shift for 5 at a time), T taps it.
This is one tool. Diesis keeps them all in one place. Every tool, your bests and your teacher's homework, kept for you.

What it does
20 to 300 BPM, set three ways
Slide the tempo ruler, type the number, or tap the tempo you have in your head.
Time signatures with their accents
2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/8 and 7/8, accented where each bar is felt.
Subdivisions
Eighth notes, triplets, sixteenths or sextuplets between the beats, quieter than the beat itself.
Speed up
Pick the start, the target, the step and how many bars each tempo lasts. Pause it and pick the climb up where you left it; at the target it stays there or starts over.
How to use it
- 01
Set the tempo
Slow enough to play the passage clean and relaxed.
- 02
Press Start
On a computer, the space bar. It counts one bar in, then the beats light up as they sound.
- 03

One tap on its card. Set your target and let it climb a few BPM every few bars.
Questions
What tempo should I practice at?
The fastest one at which the passage comes out clean and relaxed. If you tense up or miss notes it is too fast: come down ten and build again.
How does a speed trainer, or tempo trainer, work?
It raises the tempo by a small step after a set number of bars, so you go from comfortable to fast without stopping to touch anything. Small steps work best: two to five BPM.
Does it keep going if I switch tabs?
Yes. It keeps time with the tab in the background, and while it runs it keeps your screen awake.
