Terms of use
Last updated 28 October 2026
Diesis is a website and an app for guitar teachers and their students, and for anyone learning guitar on their own. It is made and run by Will Davis (William Davis), in Spain. These terms say what you can expect from Diesis and what Diesis expects from you. Using Diesis means you accept them. What happens with your data is in the privacy policy, which is part of these terms.
1. Who may use Diesis
Diesis is made for adults. Anyone 14 or older may create an account. Children under 14 may not: in Spain their data needs a parent's consent, and Diesis has no way to collect it yet. By creating an account you confirm that you are 14 or older.
Each tool works on its own public page with no account. The app, the teacher pages, bookings, reviews and payments need one.
2. Your account
You sign in with your email address and a code, or with your username; there is no password. Keep your email account safe: whoever reads it can sign in as you. What is done from your account counts as done by you.
You give your name and pick a username. Your name must be your own, or the name you teach or learn under; your username may not imitate another person, a school or a brand, and Diesis may free a username that does, or one of the reserved ones, telling you first when it can.
An account is mainly a student's or a teacher's, and can be both: a teacher can take lessons from another teacher, and a student can start teaching from their profile. One person, one account.
3. Your page, if you teach
A teacher can publish a page at diesis.app/@username. Everything on it must be true and yours: your own name and photo, your own cover picture or one you have the right to use, your own words, and a price, hours and conditions you honor. Do not put on it pictures, texts, logos or names that belong to someone else without their permission, anything unlawful or offensive, or anyone else's personal data.
The numbers and marks on the page (lessons given, students, rating, how fast you answer, whether you have canceled a lesson in the last year, your experience level, the identity tick once Stripe has checked your account, and Top teacher) are counted by Diesis from what happens on Diesis. They cannot be typed, applied for or changed; My page shows you what each one takes.
Diesis may unpublish a page that breaks these rules. You are told why by email, and you can answer at the address below. Publishing again needs the problem fixed.
4. The directory and its order
Find a teacher (diesis.app/guitar-teachers) lists every published page. Unless the visitor picks another order, Top teachers come first: a mark Diesis gives by itself to a teacher rated 4.8 or more by at least five students in the last year, with no lesson canceled in that year, who answers requests within a day and has given a lesson in each of the last three months, and takes away the same way when any of that stops holding. Then pages are sorted by rating (with the same rating, by number of reviews), then by students linked on Diesis, then by lessons given on Diesis, then the oldest page first. A visitor can sort instead by lessons given (then students, then the oldest page), by rating (then by number of reviews), by newest page, or by lowest price (pages with no price last), and can filter by style, language, online or in person, city and price.
Nothing else moves a page up or down. A teacher cannot pay for a place, and Diesis gives none. The test accounts used to check Diesis are left out of the directory and of every count.
5. Reviews
A student can write one review of a teacher, stars and a text, only after at least one lesson with them on Diesis, counted when the teacher ends the lesson in the app. That is how Diesis makes sure a review comes from a real student; Diesis does not check what the review says beyond that. You can edit your review, and choose whether it shows your first name, an initial and your profile photo, or just "A student".
Write about your own lessons, honestly. No insults, no threats, no one's personal data, nothing unlawful, nothing paid for or written for someone else. The teacher can reply under your review, with the same rules.
Anyone signed in can report a review, saying why. Diesis looks at reports and may take down a review that breaks these rules or the law, and tells the author when it does. A review stays while both accounts exist and goes when either is deleted.
6. Lessons and bookings
A teacher sets their hours, the length of a lesson, how far ahead it can be booked, the notice a change needs, their price and whether the first lesson is free. A student asks for a lesson from the teacher's page, or books one once they are linked; a lesson can be moved or canceled within that notice, by either side.
A lesson is an agreement between the teacher and the student. Diesis is not a party to it: it does not give the lessons, does not choose the teachers, and does not guarantee a teacher's skill, availability or conduct, nor a student's attendance. What happens with a missed lesson or a late cancellation, whether it is paid, is for the two of you to agree.
A teacher is responsible for what the law asks of their activity: registering it where required, invoices, taxes, and consumer rules where they apply.
7. Payments
A teacher who turns on "I charge for my own lessons" in their profile is paid through Stripe, into a Stripe account in their own name. The student pays on Stripe's page, by Bizum, card, Apple Pay or Google Pay, the teacher's price with nothing on top. Diesis never holds the money.
Diesis's commission. For each payment made through Diesis the teacher receives 90% of the amount paid, and the other 10% covers Stripe's processing fee and Diesis's commission: Diesis keeps 10% of the amount, VAT included, less Stripe's fee on that payment. The first twenty teachers whose Stripe account can take payments have a rate of 5% (they receive 95%) for as long as they have their account. Stripe bills its fee to the teacher's Stripe account and passes Diesis's part to Diesis; when Stripe's fee on a payment is higher than for a standard European card, Diesis gives the difference back from its part, so the teacher's share does not change with the card. On a payment so small that Stripe's fee is more than the rate (under about €3, or €7 at 5%), Diesis keeps nothing and the teacher bears Stripe's fee. The rate is fixed on each request when it is asked, so a later change never touches it. Payments marked as received outside Diesis cost nothing. A refund gives back Diesis's part in proportion to what is refunded; Stripe does not give back its own fee on a refunded payment, and that fee stays with the teacher. So does a dispute (chargeback) the teacher loses: Diesis gives back its part in proportion to what the bank took back, and keeps it while the dispute is open or once it is won. Every payment, its fees and its payouts are in the teacher's own Stripe Dashboard. Any change to the rate is told to teachers by email with the notice in section 12, and only applies to requests made after it.
Ways to charge. A teacher can charge per lesson (asked for when the lesson ends), monthly (a fixed amount for the calendar month, asked for on the 1st) or quarterly (three calendar months, asked for on their first day), and picks one for each student and its amount. Monthly and quarterly requests are made by Diesis by itself on the first day of each period while the link between teacher and student runs; ending the link stops them, and what was already asked for stays. For a student who books from a teacher's page, the first lesson or period is asked for when the teacher accepts. Diesis emails the student when a request is made and again a week later if it is unpaid; from then the teacher sees it as overdue. An unpaid request never blocks a lesson: what happens then is for teacher and student to agree.
A payment is between the student and the teacher. Refunds, chargebacks and disputes are handled between them and Stripe, from the teacher's Stripe account; Diesis cannot return money it never had, beyond its commission. The teacher is responsible for their receipts, invoices and taxes, and for what Stripe asks of anyone who is paid (identity, bank account, Stripe's terms). Diesis is not a payment service: it records what was asked for, whether it was paid and how, and lets the teacher mark a payment received outside Diesis.
8. The lesson call
The video call between a teacher and a student goes straight between their two browsers. Diesis does not record it and cannot see or hear it. Do not record the other person without their consent. Whether the call connects, and how it sounds, depends on your two devices and networks: Diesis does not guarantee it, and the teacher's own call link or another service remain the fallback.
9. Your content and Diesis's
What you upload and write (files in your materials, homework, notes, what you put on your page, your reviews) stays yours. You give Diesis only the permission it needs to store it and show it to the people you share it with: your students or your teacher, and anyone who reads your public page or a review. Upload and share only what you have the right to. Diesis may remove content that infringes someone's rights or the law when told about it.
The code, texts, drawings and brand of Diesis belong to Will Davis, apart from the fonts, libraries and sound samples used under their own licenses. Use Diesis as it is offered: no copying the site, no scraping, no automated accounts, no attacks, no getting around its rules.
10. What Diesis promises, and what it does not
Diesis is in preview and is offered as it is. It can change, break or be stopped; a tool can go, a feature can be reworked. Diesis does not guarantee that it is always available, free of errors or kept forever. Keep your own copies of the files you upload.
As far as the law allows, Diesis is not liable for the lessons, the payments, what other users write or do, or any loss from Diesis being unavailable or changed. Nothing here limits a liability the law does not allow to limit, and nothing here takes away the rights consumer law gives you.
11. Ending
You can delete your account at any time from your profile. It erases the account and its data at once: your page, your materials, your lessons, your links, the reviews you wrote and, if you teach, the reviews written about you. The lessons counted between you and a teacher go with your account, so a teacher's count of lessons falls when a student's account is deleted.
Diesis may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, impersonates someone, harasses other users, or harms Diesis or the people using it; you are told why, by email, unless the law forbids it or the harm is going on. Ending a link between a teacher and a student, which either can do at any time, only ends their access to each other.
12. Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the new version is published here with a new date. A change that matters to you (a fee, a new obligation, something taken away) is announced by email to every account before it applies: fifteen days before for teachers, unless the law requires sooner or the change fixes a security problem. Using Diesis after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, delete your account.
13. Law and contact
These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights your own law gives you and can go to the courts where you live. A dispute that cannot be settled between you and Diesis goes to the Spanish courts.
